David Hogg, solicitor with Close Thornton in Darlington, has announced his retirement this month after a career spanning 57 years.

He joined Close Thornton straight from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Darlington in 1967 and has held roles in various capacities including as a legal executive and then as a solicitor and former partner. He has experience in many areas of the law ranging from residential conveyancing to agricultural property, landlord and tenant issues, other commercial property matters and company/commercial law, business sales and purchases and company mergers and acquisitions.

David has most recently held a role as a practising consultant liaising with clients, overseeing matters for long established clients and introducing them Andrew Price, Mat Haynes and James Webb, who will continue his legacy.

"My intention is to put my feet up and relax both at home, at my static caravan in Cumbria and spend quality time with my wife," said David. "I am secretary to my Rotary Club at Great Aycliffe and I also intend to play more golf if it ever stops raining.”
