Dog lovers looking for a new best friend will be happy to learn there are dozens of dogs up for adoption in Darlington.

Dogs Trust Darlington have plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home this month.

We have compiled a list of five pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.

Spud

Are you the perfect forever home for Spud?

This Jack Russell Terrier cross, aged between 2-5 years  is brimming with love to share.

It's important to note that Spud will need an adult-only home with no other pets or children.

Small in size, this lovely lad requires training, patience, care, and regular companionship to help him settle and blossom.

Spud has a sweet spot for food, though can get a little grabby during treat times.

New to the leash life, staff believe Spud will be able to gradually grow from small, explorative walks to larger ventures with his family, channelling his spectrum of energy.

Despite the commitment, welcoming Spud into your home promises a vibrant enrichment.

Blake

Blake, a sweet young German Shepherd Dog is seeking a dedicated family for training.

Currently lacking in doggy social skills, he is required to be the only pet in a quiet home with older teens, ideally aged 15 and above.

Blake requires a secure garden for off-lead playtime and needs to be eased into time spent alone as he has struggled with being left in the past.

Chris

Chris, a Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois), is an enthusiastic youth in search of an affectionate, adoring family ready for fun activities.

Capable of living with children aged 11 and over, Chris still needs a companion for most of the day, but could potentially live with another dog pending successful introduction at the centre.

Bunty

Bunty, a lovely Bernese Mountain Dog Cross is ready to find a forever home.

Bunty needs a pet-free and child-free home with a comfortable space to relax and minimal visitors.

Bunty needs to be the only pet but enjoys company on her walks.

She has a preference for her own space during meal times.

Finally, George, an elder Terrier (Jack Russell) Cross, who is seeking a home for himself and his best friend Spud.

Both dogs come with limited history and may require refreshers in training, such as gradual introductions to time alone and will need someone present most of the day for help to settle.

Suitable for families with older primary school-aged children, George and Spud would also like time for relaxation.
