A person is in hospital with suspected spinal injuries after they had to be cut out of a vehicle that was involved in a crash on Friday (March 15).

Emergency services were called to Battersby at about 5.30pm, following reports of a two-car crash in the rural location.

After arriving on the scene, the roof of one of the vehicles had to be removed, due to a person trapped inside.

Firefighters removed the roof of one of the cars and rescued the trapped person inside, who was suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

The person was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Stokesley and Danby crews attended and assisted following a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

"Crews carried out roof removal on one of the vehicles using cutting equipment, due to one person trapped inside with possible spinal injuries. Crews also made vehicles safe. Incident left with Police and Ambulance."
