DEScycle, the clean technology company developing revolutionary chemistry in the e-waste metal recycling sector, has announced the appointment of several senior members to its newly established Advisory Panel.

Ruth Kelly is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolton West. She served as the Secretary of State for Transport, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Minister for Women and Equality and Secretary of State for Education and Skills.

Nicola Peill-Moelter is a senior executive in the tech industry with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Nicola is Director of Sustainability Innovation at VMware, a US cloud computing and virtualization technology company and has over 25-years of experience.

Mark Cutifani is a senior executive in the minerals industry and current chair of the Board at Vale Base Metals. Originally a mining engineer, Mark has almost 50 years of engineering and corporate experience and is the former chief executive of mining group Anglo American plc and South African gold mining company AngloGold Ashanti.

Tony O’Neill is a mining engineer with a strong background in driving innovation spanning over 40 years.

GMI

GMI Construction Group has appointed Darryl Brown to the newly created role of Regional Commercial Director for the North East.

Working alongside Regional Director Gary Oates, he is tasked with further growing the independent company’s presence in the region.

Having moved into larger offices on Teesside earlier this year, GMI, one of the largest independent construction firms in the North of England and Midlands, recently completed several high profile projects including 362,600 sq. ft of commercial units at Hillthorn Business Park, Washington, and the 650,000 sq. ft Connect warehouse and logistics scheme at the Integra 61 development near Bowburn, Durham.

Derwent Training

The CEO of Derwent Training, based in Malton has been selected to chair the EAL Advisory Group, part of the Enginuity Group.

Claire Gavaghan will now lead the Advisory Group which consists of providers and employers from across the nations of the UK, including BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover and Toyota. EAL is the specialist skills partner and awarding organisation for industry.

Claire said: “It’s a real honour to receive this recognition and be selected to help drive forward the excellent work that the Advisory Group does.

North Yorkshire ingredients experts, Eurostar Commodities has appointed Jason Bull to Managing Director.

Jason has worked in the business for over 23 years and has been instrumental in tripling the size of the business to a £15 million turnover business operating worldwide.

Founder, and Father to Jason, Phillip Bull, who established the company in 1994 will become Chairman.

Onyx Scientific

Sunderland Sci-Tech company Onyx Scientific is set to expand its commercial operations in the United States with the appointment of Anthony Harbour as Business Development Manager in North America to lead the company’s ambitious US growth plans.

Onyx Scientific has had a successful track record in the US market over several years. This has been a key factor behind the company’s recent growth, which saw an increase in its non-GMP scale-up and GMP manufacturing capacity by 50% and also saw the company headcount grow by over 50% to 120 employees over the last 2-3 years.

The company is a small molecule CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation) supporting the development and manufacture of drug substances from the moment a lead molecule is identified, through to studies and commercial manufacture.

Anthony Harbour is a seasoned industry professional with specialist expertise in biopharma and biotech and extensive experience in amplifying product revenues and market share across the industry.

Prior to joining the team at Onyx Scientific Anthony previously held sales and business development roles at Alevi and ParaPRO LLC based in North America. In his role at Alevi, he was responsible for working with academia and pharmaceutical companies to deliver bioprinting equipment across the East Coast in the USA, Canada, and Latin America. At ParaPRO LLC he managed 150 territorial accounts with the top 20 pharma providers in the US.

Miller Homes

ONE of the North East building industry’s most senior figures is handing over the reins as he prepares to ease into retirement.

Miller Homes North East’s regional managing director, Patrick Arkle, is stepping back from the day to day running of the business after 34 years with the housebuilder. Miller Homes has announced the appointment of a new regional operations director for the North East, Ryan Lincoln.

To facilitate a smooth transition and ensure the continued growth and success of Miller Homes North East, Patrick has supported Ryan in recent months as he settles into his new role and strengthens his knowledge and understanding of Miller’s many developments across the region.

He will also continue to support the land team in the short term.

Patrick joined Cussins Homes in 1989 and it was acquired by Miller Homes 10 years later.

He has since worked his way up through the business, from trainee engineer to his current role of regional MD, and overseen the company’s considerable expansion in the region.

“Patrick has demonstrated total commitment and passion to the business and his people throughout his tenure and has built an extremely successful operation,” said Divisional Managing Director, David McGrath.

Ryan has spent his entire career in the new-build sector, joining Miller Homes North East from Bellway, where he held the position of Commercial and Technical director, and having previously spent 21 years at Barratt.

“I feel extremely proud to have been given the opportunity to take on such a pivotal role within this fantastic company,” he said.

“The North East region is in great shape and I am looking forward to the various challenges that lie ahead of me.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside Patrick Arkle, who has been a great mentor for me personally and I aim to follow on from the great successes that he has delivered before me.”

The company is delivering new homes across Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
