The A684, between Harmby and Constable Burton, has been closed after a 'serious collision'.
North Yorkshire Police expect the road to remain closed for several hours.
A diversion is currently in place and motorists are being told to follow the alternative route.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Road closure alert.
"The A684 near between Constable Burton and Harmby in the Leyburn area is currently closed due to a serious collision and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
"A diversion has been put in place, please follow the alternative route.
"Thank you."
