Diving In!

Some say diving is only for holidays, scientists or James Bond. It’s an elusive and exciting experience. Luckily however, RGS students got this experience when the Freemasons and Dagger Diving Services joined forces to share their experience and knowledge but also as a fundraiser for Just Hearts.

Dagger Diving Services Ltd has a wealth of experience from years in marine engineering, salvaging and ship maintenance. They decided to bring this experience to Ripon Grammar School. Before the diving, the team visited the students and discussed career opportunities and equipment.

Then, on the 25th November the students had the exciting, valuable opportunity to actually use the equipment as well as receiving one on one instruction from the experienced team in the RGS pool!

One of the chief RGS organisers for this event, Mr Walker said “This was a great opportunity for Ripon Grammar School Students to discover more about diving career opportunities and a superb opportunity to experience what it feels like to wear a very expensive and very heavy diving helmet. Our sincere thanks go to Dagger Diving Services for the opportunity.” I fully agree with this and not only was it a valuable experience, it seemed to be a very enjoyable one too!
