Durham police’s new Chief Constable Rachel Bacon is due to start in the region next week - and you have the chance to get your questions and concerns answered.
Mrs Bacon, who has almost three decades of policing experience in a variety of specialist roles, will replace former Chief Constable Jo Farrell who has taken on the top job at Police Scotland.
She joins following a recent government report, which found Durham Constabulary ‘requires improvement’ in responding to the public and protecting vulnerable people. However, its response to disrupting serious organised crime and preventing crime were rated ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ respectively.
Following her appointment in September, Mrs Bacon said: “These are challenging times for policing, but I have already been impressed by the outstanding commitment I have seen among Durham Constabulary officers and staff to protect local communities and deliver the best possible policing service.”
Mrs Bacon will have overall responsibility for leading Durham Constabulary, which covers the whole of County Durham and Darlington.
Now, readers have a chance to put their questions and concerns to the new chief.
