A North Yorkshire care home is asking people to help them celebrate a very special anniversary.

Hambleton Grange Care Home, near Thirsk, is asking people to send an anniversary card for a couple celebrating their 70th platinum wedding anniversary.

They are hoping to get 70 cards to mark the event. The couple, who are in their nineties, are not being identified, but already pledges of cards and cakes have been made.

And a special approach is being made to King Charles III in the hope he can add his congratulations for the anniversary of their marriage in 1953.

Organiser Kelly Thornton said: "We just wanted to make it as special for them as possible, it is amazing to be celebrating 70 years together. We have already had a few cards after I put an appeal out, and offers of cakes."

Anyone who can help, send the card addressed to FAO Kelly Thornton, Hambleton Grange Care Home, Station Road, Thirsk. YO7 1QH.
