A large handmade quilt is going to be the star prize in a raffle when a group of village artists holds an exhibition of work on Sunday.

The quilt of tulips, made from upcycled material, was made over three months by the ten members of the Croft Textiles Group, and all proceeds from the raffle will go to restore the clock and the organ in the village’s St Peter’s Church, which is three miles south of Darlington.

The organ was damaged when thieves ripped lead off the church roof earlier this year.

Darlington and Stockton Times: quilt

The exhibition in Croft Village Hall will feature work by textile artists Kath Dawson and Carol Millman, abstract landscape artist Debbie Walker, ceramicist Petra Lloyd, and mixed media artist Frances Connolly. Debbie and Kath played leading roles in creating the quilt, which is 140cms wide and nearly two metres tall.

Several of the artists held a successful exhibition in the village hall last year. The exhibition on Sunday, November 12, runs from 10am to 4pm and there will be homemade cakes and refreshments.
