Firework put in letterbox on Ketton Road, Hardwick

Emergency services were called to a property on Ketton Road in Hardwick on Tuesday (October 17) at about 11.15pm, following reports of a fire-related incident. 

After arriving on the scene, there were reportedly char marks from where a firework was let off through the letterbox of a property on the street.

On Wednesday (October 18), Cleveland Fire Brigade confirmed some further details of the incident. 

A spokesperson for the fire brigade said: "We were called to an incident at 11.10pm on Ketton Road in Hardwick, Stockton.

"Three fire engines were in attendance from Stockton and Thornaby. A firework was put through the letterbox and melted the door, and carpet and caused moderate smoke damage."

It was also confirmed that a man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.

The spokesperson for the fire brigade said: "Casualty was given first aid at the scene by crews and was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. We left the scene at 23.41."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We received a call at 11.15pm last night (Tuesday, October 17) to reports of an incident at a private address on Ketton Road in Stockton. Our service was not required and we were stood down by our colleagues at the fire service."
