A talented group of young musicians are preparing to take the stage next week at a Darlington theatre for a one-night-only appearance alongside a professional orchestra.
Pupils from Hurworth School have been rehearsing to play alongside the Royal Northern Sinfonia for a special performance at the Darlington Hippodrome on October 9.
The Gateshead-based Sinfonia was founded in 1958 and is the only full-time chamber orchestra in the UK with a “worldwide reputation”.

The group has been working on a self-written – yet un-named - piece they will perform as part of the evening of classic music which will include Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

Joanne Wilson, Head of Music at the Hurworth School praised the opportunity which is “inclusive to all students.”
She added: “This has been an amazing experience for our students to be involved in – to create a whole piece of music from scratch and then given the chance to perform it at the Hippodrome.
“It has been great to have so many involved.”
The concert will kick off at 7:30pm and you can buy tickets on the Darlington Hoppdrome website.
