A popular seaside pub has reopened following extensive renovation works – and now has its own fish and chip shop.

The Ship, on Saltburn Road, in Saltburn, has seen a six-figure investment, which includes a new beer garden, and extended bar and snug area.

All internal rooms have been revamped, including the family room, which contains a large bar area, and the new and improved champagne bar.

The beer garden, which has its own bar, can now seat 250 people, and there is a new fish-and-chip shop offering both eat-in or takeaway.

David Murphy, general manager of The Ship, which as well as having direct beach access also sits beside the Cleveland Way walking trail, said: “We are beyond excited to be reopening the Ship.

“All of us cannot wait to welcome customers both old and new into our pub, to enjoy our fantastic range of drinks and delicious food. Guests are sure to love our new beer garden with beautiful waterfront views, offering the people of Saltburn-by-the-Sea the best fish and chips by the beach experience around.”

The pub has proved popular since its reopening in late August, being fully booked for meals over the bank holiday weekend.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson said: “A big thank you to everyone who has come to look at the new changes and perhaps eat and drink with us. Bear with us if it’s seemed a little hectic, we’ll get there.”
