Community members came together to offer a fun afternoon tea for older residents.

The event, at Stokesley Globe, a designated warm and safe space, included a vintage tea party with some specially-made decorations.

Residents from across the area attended, coming from as far afield as Bilsdale, and those without transport were able to access community buses, supplied by the Community Care Association.

Carol Dell Price, and Louise Smith, joint managers of the Globe, along with trustee, Jan Hunter, and Andrea Burton, the manager of Community Care, organised the vintage tea party.

The space was dressed accordingly with everything vintage-style, from bunting and table cloths, to crockery and sugar tongs, from Andrea Burton's large collection, with Carol Dell Price making the rest.

Music was supplied by the vintage songsters, the Seatones, and many got up to dance. There was a quiz on the table, generously supplied by Globe volunteer, Pat Askins, which got people talking to each other, as old friendships were rekindled.

Dainty sandwiches were supplied by TK Catering, and cakes, enough to feed a hundred were supplied by the Globe and Community Care volunteers, who looked after the guests.

The day marked the close of what had been the recent Volunteer Week.

Volunteer Pam King said: "What a great atmosphere. There's happiness and contentment all round."

Andrea Burton added: "This has been such a fantastic experience uniting these agencies and pooling our resources. I have worked with such brilliant people, and it's wonderful to see people having such a great time."
