TV vet Peter Wright called into Guisborough Bookshop on Saturday to hold a signing session for his new book, The Tales and Tails of a Yorkshire Vet.

Accompanied by his wife, Lin, a queue soon formed, as Peter has been on the long-running Chnnel Five series The Yorkshire Vet.

Peter has written two other books about his work, having been taught by Alf Wright aka James Herriot, at his Thirsk surgery.

When he arrived at the Guisborough Bookshop, Peter was still flushed from having been out on a training ride on his bike to be able to tackle a cycle challenge riding the Roses Way, a 170-mile coast-to-coast route.

He is raising funds for the Herriot Hospice's project to redevelopment Thirsk's old Lambert Hospital, which due to open in autumn an an in-patient hospice, caring for people living with terminal illnesses and their families.

In his book, Peter recalls the funniest, most absurd and most heart-breaking animal encounters that he has had. Going back to some of his earlier years, he recalls the key moments of his career and his most memorable patients. 

The book sells for £20, and is available from the Guisborough Bookshop, as well as other retailers.
