A major community tree planting scheme has been hailed as a success.
Andrew Price, executive committee member of Hillside Scout Group at Knayton, near Thirsk, said he was overwhelmed by how well the tree planting session on the Scout field went recently.
He said it was amazing that 65 members of the group, including Beavers and Cubs, leaders, parents and grandparents managed to plant almost 650 young trees, provided by "I Dig Trees", in an hour and a half.
The group also created an extension to an existing woodland planted 14 years ago which will provide a facility for future generations to use and explore.
Andrew extended special thanks to Mike I'Anson for leading the session and enabling the site to be prepared in the morning, and to Donna Flemming for ensuring that all volunteers had canes and protective tubes at hand so no time was wasted.
Enthusiastic planters remarked how proud they were of what had been achieved.
