Children from four primary schools in Guisborough came together for the annual Children’s Choir festival last week at St Nicholas Church in Guisborough.
In the ancient church, pupils from each school sang two songs, and in between each, all the choirs combined to sing another song. The enthusiasm for the event was clearly demonstrated by the children, who sang their hearts out.
The event was directed by Chris Nixon, the director of music for the church. The Rector of St Nicholas, Rev. Alison Phillipson, welcomed parents, relatives and friends of the children, who made up the audience in the church.
This is the first time that the event has taken place since the Covid lockdowns and was warmly welcomed by all.
The previous two days were taken up by performances from ten other primary school choirs from across the Redcar and Cleveland borough in Skelton, Redcar, Dormanstown and Normanby.
The Guisborough primary school children will return to St Nicholas Church on November 15 to sing at a Remembrance Service with the Royal British Legion, and for Christmas Carols on December 6, to be sung around the Guisborough Town Council Christmas lights switch-on.
