A farm between Darlington and Heighington could officially become a camping and caravan park according to recently-submitted plans.

The site, which is found on Westholme Farm, is currently already running as a camping and caravan park, however, is seeking official planning consent.

New toilet facilities have been proposed as part of the development and would be clad with horizontal timber boards and there would also be two dark grey UPVC windows.

New posts and rail fencing would match the structures already on site and a new entrance would also be created.

These would consist of new entrance gates in a close-boarded construction hung from stone pillars.

The site is currently already running as a Camping and Caravanning Club, however, it is technically operating without an approved change of use planning application.

According to plans the existing camping site has had "very positive" feedback from its visitors.

It continues to stress that the development would also benefit local businesses within and around Heighington Village.

The application can still be viewed and commented on by residents on the Darlington Borough Council website.
