The Yorkshire Lass Sportive, a major race in the cycling calendar, is being held at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre at Carlton Miniott, near Thirsk ,on Sunday.

Organisers say the routes will remain the same as in 2021, apart from the long route where changes have had to be made.

It now heads out to Pateley Bridge and up Trapping Hill, but organisers promise there will be amazing scenery and the same support with regards to well-stocked feed stations, mechanical help and good signage.

Motorbike marshalls will be going around the course looking after riders, with ride angels from Yorkshire Cogs and Roses cycling club supporting riders on each route.

A spokesperson said: “There will also be the medal, cake and a cuppa on return to HQ where riders will also receive a rowdy warm Yorkshire welcome as they cross the finish line. Through our event it has been great to see so many women taking up cycling, our event provides a friendly and supportive environment for people taking part, whilst raising lots of money for charities. Funds are going to breast cancer care, Jo's cervical trust, Ovarian cancer action, Carlton Lodge Bursary fund and MND.”
