A woman has gone viral after sharing her hilarious opinion on the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the news.

Mr Johnson announced his intention to stand down on Thursday afternoon, with a new Prime Minister set to be appointed in the next few months.

National news teams travelled the UK to gauge public reaction to the announcement, and a team from BBC news reported from Darlington town centre to hear what locals had to say.

Of the people interviewed the view was mixed, with some saying they were glad to see him resign while others believed he should stay.

But it was Erin Mae Denny who grabbed the attention of the viewers with her nonchalant and candid remarks on the day’s events.

“I didn’t even know he resigned. I’ve just finished work, so… well that’s a bit of good news for the day I suppose, isn’t it?”

She later retweeted a video of herself recorded from BBC news, adding: “Hey look mum I’m on TV 😂”.

The video has since been viewed more than 5.5 million times.
