HOT on the heels of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, organisers of a classic car show have promised another royal-calibre celebration.

On Sunday, June 12, hundreds of veteran, classic, sporty and souped-up vehicles will be at Ripon Racecourse for the 23rd Ripon Classic Car and Bike Show.

Hosts Great British Motor Shows will bring a multitude of machines for the event, from compact kit cars and classic Austin 7s to motorcycles, vans, classic commercials, 4x4s, ex-military vehicles and modern supercars.

Club stands will include North East Volkswagen Audio Group, Corvette Club, Mercedes SLK Club and displays of American cars, while the arena will feature parades, displays and expert commentary, plus the famous auto jumble.

New activities include a prize treasure hunt, free for all attending children, to spot vehicle badges, logos and quirky details across the show.

Organiser Steve Bishop said: “It’s a double celebration this year, as everyone’s excited about the show returning after two years in the garage. Like the Queen we’re celebrating heritage and longevity – and just like her racehorses, we’ve got some truly thoroughbred horsepower under starter’s orders too.”

The event runs from 10am to 4pm, with admission priced at £8.50 per adult and £3 for children. Dogs on leads are welcome.
