NORTHALLERTON Bowls Club held a very successful open day last month.
More than 50 prospective bowlers tried out lawn green bowling – 20 of whom have since joined the club.
Club president Pat Robinson said: “It was fantastic to see so many people of all ages and abilities having a go and even better to get so many new members. Bowls is fun and great exercise. Plus it's in the fresh air.
"We are very friendly club and have lots going on including indoor carpet bowls, snooker, bridge and canasta, as well as s a licensed bar.”
For those still wanting to have a go, the club is holding a second open day on Saturday, May 28 from 10.30am to 2.30pm as part of the national Big Bowls Weekend.
