BEDALE Town council has revealed plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
On Thursday, June 2, the town will join communities around the country in lighting a ceremonial beacon in honour of the Queen's 70 years on the throne.
At 9.35pm on the balcony at St Gregory's Church, a piper will play "Diu Regnare", followed at 9.40pm by the bugle call "Majesty" and at 9.45pm the lighting of the beacon.
On Saturday, June 4 there is a civic service at St Gregory's.
On Sunday, June 5 the town council, and surrounding parishes, host a family fun afternoon from 12pm until 5pm in Bedale Park.
Organisers are inviting people to bring a picnic and enjoy entertainment by Bedale High School pupils, music from the Bedale Band and Chris Pritchard, a children's entertainer with Punch and Judy, balloon modelling and magic tricks, and say there will be a small funfair for all to enjoy.
