THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for the North East and North Yorkshire as “disruption to travel” has been predicted in places.
The warning is in place from 1pm today until 10pm tonight and affects much of North Yorkshire and parts of the North East.
According to the weather forecaster, “scattered” thunderstorms will develop this afternoon.

Driving conditions could be affected by spray, standing water or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus, say the Met Office.
It has also predicted delays to train services, which are possible, and a short term loss of power and other services is also likely.
There is also a chance of some flooding of homes and businesses or some damage to buildings or structures from lighting strikes.

What will the weather be like tomorrow?
Looking ahead into tomorrow, the Met Office has predicted dry conditions with “lengthy sunny spells” and “light winds.”
Temperatures will be warm, however, it will be cloudier in far western areas by the evening.
A maximum temperature of 22c has been predicted for the North East tomorrow.
What will the weather be like for the rest of the week?
Moving on into Wednesday, further bright and warm weather has been predicted, however there will be further heavy and sometimes thundery showers predicted for Wednesday night.

Things will be largely warm and sunny on Thursday, and Friday will see a bright start with cloud later in the day and a risk of rain.
