EMERGENCY services are dealing with a crash on the A19 at Thirsk. 

The AA has reported the road has been closed due to the incident crash on the A19 York Road Southbound from A61 to A168 Blakey Lane.

There are reports of an overturned caravan on the southbound carriageway. 

The National Highways says: "The A19 in North Yorkshire is closed southbound between the A168 at South Kilvington and the A170 at Thirsk due to a collision involving an overturned caravan.

"Emergency services including North Yorkshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors are also on scene assisting with traffic management."

Diversion Route

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol:

Exit the A19 southbound and follow the exit slip road around to the roundabout with the A61/A168

At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A61 and head south

At the A61/A170 roundabout, head straight over onto the A170

Continue straight over the following roundabout to resume onward journey on the A19 southbound.

If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
