AN art exhibition takes place this weekend in Stokesley Town Hall.

The 2022 Spring Exhibition by Leven Art Society will be held from today (May 13) to Sunday, May 15, with about 170 paintings on display in the main exhibition. There are also about 100 unframed pictures, and most of the exhibits will be for sale.

Exhibition secretary Bob Baker said: “It’s great to get our Annual Spring Exhibition back! The 2020 exhibition was cancelled and the 2021 exhibition delayed until July due to the Covid pandemic.

"This year’s exhibition should be exciting! We have lots of new, enthusiastic members following a major change to our waiting list policy. This together with an appeal for all members to ‘think outside the box’ should lead to some really stimulating exhibits.”

Chairman Jim Miller said: “We expect a great exhibition. Visitors will see great art work and artists will be on hand to chat and demonstrate. The public can vote for their favourites. A raffle of works by professional artists will support the charity Tees Valley Arts, which uses the arts to give employment and experience to local young people.”

Opening hours will be from 10am to 6pm each day. There will be a 50p admission charge for adults, young people below the age of 18 will be admitted free of charge.

The society was founded in 1970, and membership is open to anyone who lives around the Stokesley area. If you would like to join, email secretary@levenart.org.
