BEDALE resident Hilda Young celebrated her 100th birthday at the town's Greenwell Nursing Home.
She was presented with a card from the Queen, together with a couple of framed photos and a card from the Chief Constable of Herefordshire Police. Cllr Andy Hallett, Mayor of Bedale, also presented her with a bouquet of flowers from the town council and a card and flowers from the staff at Greenwell.
Mrs Young has a close connection with Herefordshire Police. She was born at Hatfield Police Station where her father Abel Camp was later to be Acting Chief Constable.
Mrs Young said she wasn't sure what the secret to a long life is other than to eat what she wants, when she wants and being able to watch old editions of Coronation Street, the boxing and Formula 1 on TV.
