These cats are searching for a forever home in the North East after facing difficult circumstances so far.

The RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub works with local RSPCA branches to rehome cats and kittens rescued by RSPCA officers across the Darlington, Stockton, Northallerton, Middlesbrough, and North Yorkshire areas.

The cats have often faced cruelty, neglect and abandonment or sad situations where their owner could no longer care for them or passed away.

From a cattery just outside Darlington and a huge network of volunteer foster carers, it rehomes around 250 cats each year - making it one of the most successful rehoming catteries in the country.

Here are just some of the cats presently looking for their new forever homes at the RSPCA Cat Hub.

Cats for adoption

Beauty

Very special old lady Beauty is looking for a rare new home.

Beauty is a beautiful, 16-year-old indoor cat who is now the longest stayer in the RSPCA’s cattery. She is a bit grumpy, but will accept treats from hands.

She only likes to be stroked on her head and doesn’t like other cats. She will never really be a lap cat or want lots of cuddles.

She is looking for a patient and understanding owner, perhaps in a quiet, single person adult household, who is willing to accept her for what she is, as she isn't going to change much at her age.

If you would like to adopt Beauty or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Owlie

Owlie is a male, tabby and white, longhaired cat about 2-5 years old.

He is a shy boy in the cattery, but is gradually becoming more confident.

Because of his long coat, Owlie requires an owner who has the time to groom him every day.

He is looking for an adult only household or with children aged over 10.

He can possibly live with a female cat, as long as that cat has lived with other cats before. He can be an indoor or outdoor cat.

If you would like to adopt Owlie or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Spike

Darlington and Stockton Times: Spike. Spike.

Spike is an adorable 11-year-old male cat looking for a new home.

He was a stray cat signed over by his owner to the RSPCA, as he kept wandering away from home.

For this reason he is looking for a home outside Darlington, ideally with access to a catio, in case he goes walkabouts!

Spike is a little skittish until you sit still and then he comes out of himself, so he is looking for a new home with no young children.

He seems to be able to get on with other cats.

If you would like to adopt Spike or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Oscar

Oscar is a cream coloured male cat, around 8 years old.

He is looking for an outdoor home where he can roam to his heart’s content, but might also like access to a house as we know he has lived indoors in the past.

He wants to be the only cat there.

Unfortunately he was a bit clumsy and unpredictable when shut inside.

Adopters are asked to provide a weatherproof shelter, food and water at least daily and to keep an eye on Oscar’s health and seek veterinary help when needed.

He will also need access to land to roam, and vegetation such as woodland, fields or gardens.

If you would like to adopt Oscar or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Tiger

Tiger is a very friendly 12 year old female dark tortoiseshell cat who is quite confident, likes attention and chirrups to get it.

She is looking for an indoor home with older children or adults and no other cats.

If you would like to adopt Tiger or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Kanga

Kanga is an energetic young male indoor cat who was signed over to the RSPCA when his owner moved away.

He seems to be cat friendly, but he has not lived with them before.

He is very outgoing and friendly to people and can live in a home with children.

If you would like to adopt Kanga or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Iris and Daffodil

Iris and Daffodil are seven month old sisters who are looking for their new home together.

They can live together with other cats and are looking for a household where any children are aged over 10.

They can be either indoor or outdoor cats.

If you would like to adopt Iris and Daffodil or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.

Sooty

Darlington and Stockton Times: Pictured, Sooty.Pictured, Sooty.

Sooty is a black female adult cat, aged 4, who was unfortunately returned to us as she was not getting with other cats in the household.

Sooty is looking for an indoor home where she can be the only cat, ideally with a new owner who is at home a lot and has the time to help her find her confidence, as at present she is not very sociable.

She is looking for a household where any children are over 10.

If you would like to adopt Sooty or find out more information, you can visit the RSPCA Cat Hub’s website for the rehoming process here.
