A MUCH loved and world-renowned Royal Air Force team is set to headline this year’s packed Teesside Airshow, it has been revealed today.

The Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows are set to return to Teesside Airshow this year which is set to attract audiences of up to 25,000 when it returns to Teesside airport after its five-year grounding.

The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, will be landing at the airport and using it as a base for the event, during which they will perform a 25-minute display.

Alongside the aerobatic display team, the RAF’s Red Falcons parachute display team are also set to entertain families, all above a classic car show which is set to display 300 cars.

A funfair, live music, strongman competition, army display arena, stunt displays exhibitors and a range of stalls, including street food and drinks, will also be on display for audiences.

Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor, said the inclusion of the Red Arrows will proves the “airshow is going to bigger and better than ever.”

He said: “The last time the Red Arrows were here, back in 2016, people couldn’t get enough of them. The iconic display team is truly a UK institution and it’s fantastic to be welcoming them back to Teesside Airport.

“Along with the Red Falcons and a raft of other attractions, this much-loved event is set to put our airport on the map for more than its flights.

“As the closest other airshow is taking place more than 120 miles away, we’re expecting to attract thousands upon thousands of people from right across our region and beyond. I’m going to be in the audience on the day – and you should be too.”

The airshow, which will be delivered by SkyLive Air, will take place at Teesside Airport on Sunday June 11.

Tickets are on sale now and priced at £10 per adult, £5 per child, and a family ticket consisting of two adults and two children, will be £25 and there is free entry for those aged under six.

Steve Davies, director of SkyLive Air said he expects the Red Arrows to be a “massive hit again” after they appeared in the previous Teesside Airshow.

Squadron leader Tom Bould, Team Leader of Royal Air Force Aerobatic and Red 1, said the Red Arrows were “thrilled” to return to Teesside.
