Darlington & DMC Trial, Eskleth, Sunday
THE Darlington club struck lucky when they staged the Andrew Allison Memorial Trial last week at a sunny and dry Arkengarthdale.
The acres of Doug Barningham, Malcolm Allison and Peter Ellerton were ideal for the 108 competitors. Clerk of course Nigel Cummins and his team plotted 18 sections which were ridden twice.
Guy Kendrew and Rob Waite headed the hard course results, while York Inter grade contender Thomas Hick took his class ahead of Scott Aitken. Alec Wray and Ryan Brown were the top novice riders. Teenager Callum Fowler turned a cracking ride to win the Class A youth category. Former Scott Trial winner Phillip Alderson returned to trialling riding a new TRS machine, The Askrigg garage owner lost none of his skills and signed off with a mere seven penalties on his card.
Another former trials rider, Steve Lambert, returned to the action riding a Beta in the Easy Clubman class. The Braidley farmer was pipped at the post by Leyburn joiner Paul Sadler who contested the Over 40s class ahead of Eddie Aitken and Leigh Smith.
