OVER 600 items are set to be auctioned off from a North Yorkshire house after its owner, a prolific collector, died in 2019.

Beal House, near the village of Thornton-le-Street was the home of Ian Stewart, a businessman who lived and worked in both the UK and the Far East and amassed hundreds of antiques in the country house over his many years of collecting.

The house is a grade II listed manor house between Northallerton and Thirsk and dates back to the 18 century and was originally built as the dower house for the Gautby Estate.

Auctioneer Jeremy Wood, said: "it’s a classic country house sale with an eclectic mix of antiques and furniture from different periods. Although some of the contents of Beal House had already been removed there are still a huge number of items to sell. We are expecting a lot of interest in the sale from private buyers as well as from the trade.”
