THE annual "drive in" took place at Richmond Golf Club on Sunday, a tradition to launch the new golfing year, watched by a cheering crowd of members.
The captains of the club, including the lady captain Joan Paterson, gents’ captain Mick Campbell, seniors’ captain Steve Kowal and the junior captain Robert Dawson, each took it in turn to drive a ball from the first tee.
On this occasion it was Robert Dawson who had the best shot to signal the start of the new golfing year.
Mr Campbell, who is also the chairman of the Golf Club, said: "We’re all looking forward to a great year in 2022 at Richmond, in this our 130th year.
"The course is in fantastic condition, the membership is growing in all sections, so there has never been a better time to come and join us."
