IN the third round of the North Riding Sunday Challenge Cup, only one of the three scheduled fixtures involving teams from Hillsprint Hambleton Football Combination took place on Sunday.

Catterick Garrison Football Centre hosted Cayton Corinthians from Scarborough and lost 2-1. Connor Dagnall put Catterick ahead after five minutes, but ten minutes later, a Cayton player suffered an epileptic seizure. Catterick's George Catterall, Jaycee Hall and Arwell Carter went to his assistance. A paramedic first responder and ambulance attended, and the ambulance stayed until the end of the game.

Referee Lynn Brown later restarted the match, and in the second half Cayton hit back when Brad Atkinson equalised on the hour mark with a scrambled goal. Ten minutes later he beat three players before laying off the ball to Jack Adams, who hit a fine shot into the top corner of the Catterick net to take his team into the quarter finals.

Referee Brown said later had it not been for the Catterick lads' quick and professional actions, it might have been a different outcome. Catterick manager Micky Chape has checked with Cayton on Monday, and the player has made a full recovery.

Catterick Rovers were due to play Newlands Park Hotel at Scarborough but the game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The game will be played next Sunday. Golden Lion, Northallerton were due to play the Three Fiddles, Guisborough away but couldn’t field a side, and have withdrawn from the cup.

In the second round of the Hillsprint League Cup, Stokesley Wanderers visited Catterick Village and in a very close game won on penalties. Brandon Bishop put Catterick ahead after ten minutes, only for Matty Smith to equalise for Wanderers five minutes later. That was how the score remained at full time and after extra time. Wanderers won the penalty shoot out 5-3 and are away to Catterick Rovers in the quarter finals.

Back in the league, Sportsman’s hosted Knayton in division one and had a resounding 10-3 win. Sportsman's scorers were Colin Anderson with four, a brace apiece for Scott McNichol and Damon Reaks, a Dan Caisley strike and an own goal. Jake Porter, who was returning after injury for Knayton, scored their three goals.

The win moves Sporty’s up to third in the league. Streetlam Farmers hosted Robert Thompsons, Thirsk and won 6-1. Ryan Monaghan-White with a hat trick, Tom Chapman with a brace including a penalty and David Bunn were Streetlam's scorers. Jordan Wright was the Thompson’s scorer.

In division two, second-placed Shorthorn, South Otterington hosted Academy, Dalton, Thirsk and had a comfortable 5-1 win. Shorthorn’s scorers were Joe Martin with a hat trick, Sam McNaughton and Tom Lewis. Sam Carter scored a second half goal for Academy. The win puts Shorthorn top of the league on goal difference from Golden Lion.

Fourth placed Leeming United visited fifth-placed Oddies WMC, Northallerton and won 5-2. Colter Binnie put Leeming ahead on six minutes. Charlie Bingley equalised for Oddies on 15 minutes, and in the second half Leeming scored a further four goals with a Alfie Noon hat trick and a Steve Reid strike.
