POLICE with support from the fire service and council have organised a week of action in a Teesside town.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Police Team officers are supporting Middlesbrough Council, Cleveland Fire Brigade and other partner agencies in a week of action in North Ormesby.

Yesterday (Monday), officers located and dismantled suspected cannabis plants at a property on Norcliffe Street.

There were 864 cannabis plants recovered, with a potential value of up to £450,000.

Bags of compost seized were then donated to local allotments.

A man was arrested on Grove Road on suspicion of drug driving, no licence and possession of suspected class A drugs.

He was released under investigation whilst enquiries continue and the vehicle he was driving was seized.

Patrols have been carried out in the area along with street wardens who have been liaising with local residents and businesses.

Throughout the week, officers and partners will look to continue to visit local schools and shops, continue with high visibility patrols as well as carry out revisits to repeat victims of crime and carry out enforcement activity.

There will be engagement events at:

  • North Ormesby Hub with Cleveland Fire Brigade. tomorrow (Wednesday) between 1pm and 3pm. People can receive fire safety advice and free smoke alarms.
  • Housing advice/police/warden drop-in at North Ormesby Hub, Friday 10th December between 2pm and 4pm.
  • The local authority’s Illegal Money Lending team will be attending to offer advice on Friday (December 10).
  • Engagement event at North Ormesby Market on Saturday (December 11).
