One second division league game, between Heslerton and Rillington, survived, and one game in the Scarborough and District FA Junior Cup, an-all Newitts.com Beckett league game between Union Rovers and Amotherby and Swinton – more or less a Malton and district local derby.

Heslerton hosted Rillington at Sand Lane, and it was immediately evident the high winds would play a part as Heslerton struggled to get to grips with the ball in the air. Rillington took the lead after 24 minutes from a free kick 20 yards out, Steve Walker's shot crashing through a crowded Heslerton wall.

Then a clearance from the halfway line was dragged by the wind, causing a problem for home 'keeper Jim Houlder who clawed it from under the bar, but not to safety. The ball was stabbed home by Michael Anderson after 38 minutes to double the visitors' advantage. Rillington were then reduced to ten men, a player collecting his second yellow card for a challenge on Morgan Kendrew.

The second half and the in-form Kendrew, who'd started feeling unwell at half time, would instigate the beginning of the Heslerton revival. Fed by fullback Ben Flinton, on for the injured Charlie Richardson, he raced down the right, outpacing his marker to feed an inviting cross into the box, met firmly by the head of Ben Chafer, who gave the 'keeper no chance. he only turned 17 three months ago and already has scored three goals. Within five minutes, the Blues were level. Rob Ruston charged to the penalty spot to meet a Greg Dixon free kick from wide on the left, heading home the equaliser.

With the wind, easing the home side were now in the ascendancy, pressing the final third with Gareth Driver in particular a real menace, and it was be the elder statesman of the youthful Heslerton side that put his team in front, firing in from twelve yards. Ruston made way for Tom Stockdale and within minutes of entering the fray he buried a thunderous shot that the Rillington 'keeper didn't see until he picked it out of the net.

The unwell Kendrew left the field to be replaced by the fresh legs of striker Dan Blanchard, who, after good work from Josh Wade and Driver, ran free to make it five for Heslerton. Jack Burnett and Dixon marshalled the sporadic Rillington attacks well, whilst Ethan Chan, playing in a more advanced role than usual, ran himself into the ground with his pressing of the Rillington back line.

Blues captain Ollie Stanton, in the wars as usual, won a free kick and from pretty much the same spot as before, Dixon sent in the dead ball. This time it was met by Driver, who nodded home at the far post to conclude the afternoon's goal scoring.

Heslerton's man of the match was Gareth Driver.
