Darlington & D.M.C. Trial, The Woodyard, Reeth.

THE Darlington club again attracted a quality entry for its trial at the Woodyard, Reeth.

William Wood travelled from Barnsley, while John Crinson headed down the M1 from his Whickham home to battle with Richard Sadler and bevy of talented teenagers on home ground.

Darlington club members Nigel Cummins and his assistants plotted a testing route alongside Arkle Beck. Eighty eight competitors faced three laps and 11 sections. The weather was on the cool side but dry.

Before the engines fired up Colin Ayre assembled six award winners for a photo-shoot by Barry Watson to record the day.

The last section on the lap tested all classes. Only winner Richard Sadler, John Crinson and Dale Robson mastered the section. Robson's efforts were in vain as he was posted as a non-finisher. The Green course was won by visitor Anthony Bowe while local riders Mark Willis and Paul Wearmouth headed the Easy Clubman category.

Chester-le-Street teenager Morgan Deswert won Class A Youth from Class B contender Fraser Proudlock.
