THE BBC have revealed that nearly 9,000 people have applied for refunds as they announce a third months refund will be available to those who need it.

The broadcasting company has said that as of November 10 TV licencing has provided refunds or licence extensions to nearly 9,000 households.

The BBC has said that because the situation is still developing that the refund process is ongoing.

Customers who are still without TV for a third month will now be eligible for a refund or licence extension.

This applies to customers who are still without TV and who are unable to access on demand services such as BBC iPlayer.

The company urged that customers who are eligible for a third month’s refund or licence extension to claim it online or by calling 0300 7906096.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: “According to Arqiva, the new temporary mast erected last month restored coverage to around 95% of households.

“They are now offering further assistance to households that continue to be affected, including vouchers for TV streaming devices.

“Services have been restored gradually by Arqiva and their work is still ongoing.

“ Any household that continues to be without TV services should contact Arqiva, who are trying to find the best way to help everyone without a TV signal, via their website or by phone at 0800 121 4828.

"Following the incident at Bilsdale, we continue to assist customers to claim refunds or licence extensions, and nearly 9,000 households have already done so.

"If a household has been unable to receive TV coverage for a month or more, and are also unable to view BBC programming through BBC iPlayer, and satellite and cable platforms, they will be able to claim a refund or be offered a free extension to their TV Licence, depending on their TV Licensing payment plan.

"The small number who remain without services will need to contact TV Licensing to claim a refund or licence extension for the third month”.
