ALL eight scheduled fixtures took place on Sunday for Hillsprint Hambleton Football Combination teams, despite a very windy and wet morning.

The final first round game in the Frank Bainbridge Cup was played at Cowtons where Robert Thompsons were the visitors. It proved a very one-sided affair with Cowtons winning 11-0. Kalem Stanger and Mark Sims both scored hat tricks with Scott Ryan scoring a brace. Anth Weighell, Callum Dean and James Stanger were the other Cowtons scorers. Cowtons are at home to Catterick Village in the quarter finals.

In the league division one, the match of the day was at third-placed Stokesley Wanderers, who hosted second placed Sportsmans and won 5-3 in a close game. Scott McNichol gave Sporty’s the lead after 20 minutes. James Stinson equalised for Wanderers five minutes later. In the second half Stinson added a brace to complete his hat trick and Matthew Smith also scored a brace to put Stokesley 5-1 up after 70 minutes. Jack Stapley reduced the arrears for Sportys two minutes later, and an own goal by Wanderers made it 5-3. That is how the scoring finished with Wanderers climbing above Sporty’s in the league.

Kildale hosted Sessay Cricket Club and drew 3-3. Richard Thompson gave Sessay the lead after 30 minutes, and Oli Smith equalised for Kildale five minutes later. Josh Peirse put Sessay ahead on 55 minutes only for his team to concede an own goal to level the scores. Mark Jackson put Sessay ahead on 65 minutes, and this goal looked to be the winner, however, James Forster-Conlon scored for Kildale on 90 minutes to give his side a share of the points.

Streetlam Farmers visited Knayton and won 2-0. After a goalless first half Ryan Monaghan-White put Streetlam ahead on the hour. With five minutes to go Tom Barley scored a second goal for Streetlam.
