SCI-FI classic Invasion of The Body Snatchers is showing at Skipton Plaza on Sunday, November 7, courtesy of the town’s film club.

As part of its American retrospective, Skipton Film Club says it is thrilled to be screening the 1950s classic, arguably the most powerful depiction of paranoid fear on screen.

The film has been seen as being a metaphor for the rising fear of communism – fostered by the ‘red scare’ witch hunts instigated by Senator McCarthy in the late 40s and 50s.

Its director, Don Siegel went on to make Dirty Harry, with Clint Eastwood. Invasion of the Body Snatchers plays at the Plaza at 5.15 pm on November 7. Open to non members.
