A 31-YEAR-old Carlisle man has been sentenced for repeatedly stealing - including a shoplifting offence when he stole a £65 microwave oven from B&M Bargains in English Street.

Byron Peter Rogers, of Levens Drive, committed that offence on October 7.

At the city's Rickergate court, he admitted that theft, as well as failing to surrender to the court on October 25 as required without a reasonable excuse; as well as two further thefts.

These were committed on July 6 and July 12, and involved him stealing two four-pack energy drinks, each worth £3.

Magistrates imposed a community order, with 10 days of rehabilitation activity.

Rogers must pay £6 compensation for the drinks he stole, as well as £85 costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
