A MAN died after an accident involving a milk tanker this morning.
The incident happened on the A684 in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, near St Matthew's Church. The road was closed for several hours as a result.
Police say the death of the man was reported by a tanker driver at 12.23am today.
It is understood the road did not re-open again until 7.50am.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating the death of a man on the A684 Harmby Road at Leyburn that was reported by a tanker driver at 12.23am today (Tuesday 26 October 2021).
"The stretch of road remained closed for around eight hours while the emergency services worked at the scene.
"Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room. Please quote reference number 12210229034."
