CATTERICK Rovers visited Potting Shed in the first round of the Hillsprint League Cup, and in a very close game won on penalties.

Potting Shed were 2-0 up at half time with goals from Dan Rafiq and Silas Bird. Rovers hit back with goals from Bailey Proudlock and Gus Glass to take the tie into extra time. No goals were scored in extra time so the game went to penalties which Rovers won 4-2. Ethan Brown, Connor Fleming, Oscar Luck and Gus Glass were the Rovers penalty scorers. Rovers are away to Leeming United in round two.

Stokesley Wanderers hosted local rivals Kildale and won 4-3 in a very close game. James Stinson, Matty Smith and Ste Drinkwater gave Stokesley a 3-1 half time lead, James Forster Conlon scoring the Kildale goal. Kildale hit back in the second half scoring two further goals through Jamie Atkinson and Michael Gill to level the scores on 65 minutes. Five minutes later Jack Johnson scored the winner for Stokesley to take them into round two and an away trip to Catterick Village.

Robert Thompsons hosted Knayton and won 4-1 with all the goals coming in the first half. Knayton started the game with ten men and went 2-0 down with goals from Riley Bainbridge and Jordan Wright. On 25 minutes Knayton were reduced to nine men when a player went off injured, and were soon 3-0 down through Wright.

Knayton went back up to ten men and scored on 40 minutes through Martin Kendall, but Thompsons scored a fourth before half time through Oscar Benoit. Robert Thompsons are at home to Cowtons in the next round.

Catterick Garrison Football Centre visited White Bear, Bedale and won 4-0 with a brace from Liam Stacey, a goal from Matthew Kirk and an own goal. Catterick are at home to Sportsmans in round two.

First division Cowtons hosted second division Academy, Dalton, Thirsk and won 10-1 with hat tricks from Callum Dean and Mark Sims, a brace from Kalem Stanger and further goals from Anth Weighell and Joe Walker. Durham Ox were supposed to play Thirsk town next week, however, Thirsk Town have resigned from the league so Durham Ox have a bye into round two and are at home to Streetlam Farmers.

In the first round of the Frank Bainbridge Cup, Durham Ox visited Sessay Cricket Club and won 5-2. It was 1-1 at half time, with Chris Smales scoring Ox’s goal and Duncan Terry scoring with a free kick for Sessay. In the second half Ox scored a further four goals with a hat trick from Dan Baxter and a further goal from Raiden Smithson Hogg. Sessay scored a second goal on 75 minutes through Charlie Watson. Durham Ox are away to Sportsman’s in the quarter finals.

The first round of the Bob Seymour Trophy saw Oddies WMC visit Katch FC in a local derby, and won 11-0 with Sam Rayner leading the way with five goals followed by a brace apiece from Will Horner, Jordan Wallace and Joe Andrew. Oddies are at home to Golden Lion in the quarter final.

Back in the league, in division one, Catterick Village visited Streetlam Farmers and won 3-0 with all the goals being scored in the second half through a George Battersby brace and a Gary Hutchison strike. The win moves Village to the top of the table. The Thirsk Town v Sportsman’s game was postponed as Thirsk Town have withdrawn from the league.

In division two, Shorthorn, South Otterington hosted Kirklington and won 7-3 with a hat trick from James Coatsworth and a brace each from Joe Martin and Jacob Stayman Collin. Kirklington replied with a brace from James Newcombe and Zac Okey.
