NORTHALLERTON'S first team bounced back from the previous Saturday's disappointing defeat to comprehensively outplay visitors Leeds Corinthians at Brompton Lodge by a score of 52-14.

North took the lead after five minutes when Dom Dalby managed to barge over the try line following good forward pressure, Jed Bainbridge adding the conversion.

North kept their intensity up for the next 15 minutes, keeping Leeds pinned in their own half, but stout defending by Leeds kept the home team at bay.

After 20 minutes North were finally rewarded with a try for Charlie Birkett who went over following quick hands through the backs that created space for him to loop round to score. Bainbridge added his second conversion for the 14-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Matthew Marsay collected the ball just inside the Leeds half and two metres in from the touchline. Somehow Marsay managed to race down the line, evade two tacklers and score in the corner. The ensuing conversion fell just short.

Just before the break, more good handling from North's backs led to Jack Tart going over in the corner for another unconverted try. Half time 24-0.

Ten minutes into the second half North scored a pushover try with Jeremy Deas touching down over the try line and Bainbridge converting.

Straight from the restart, Leeds collected the ball and fed their speedy right winger, who managed to outpace the North defence to score a converted try.

This gave the visitors a boost of confidence and they proceeded to dominate North for the next ten minutes.

On the hour mark, Leeds scored their second converted try through a combination of slick play and North's missed tackles to make the score 31-14.

North slowly regained control of the game and began to work their way upfield. Ten minutes from time, Marsay burst into the line at pace to slice through the covering defence. With the try line beckoning, Marsay generously off loaded the ball to the supporting Sandy Gray to score under the posts.

Five minutes later a well executed cross field kick by man of the match Ashley Rio was collected by Gray, who returned the complement to Marsay by off loading the ball for him to go over for another converted try.

Straight from the restart, lock Iain Swall collected the ball and proceeded to gallop down the right wing before being halted after 40 yards. The ball was quickly recycled out to Zander Metcalfe on the opposite wing to go over for the final converted try of the game.

The result puts North second in Yorkshire 2.

Next week, North travel to top of the table Keighley, who are so far unbeaten this season, kick off at 3pm.

Northallerton seconds are due to be at home to Stocktonians, kick off at 3pm.
