DOG friendly town Northallerton is holding a half term of events to get tails wagging.

The Business Improvement District, BID, says many of the towns traders and businesses have backed the canine support scheme which they claim could make Northallerton the most dog friendly town in Britain.

On market days Saturday October 23 and Wednesday October 27 there are two special events planned.

There will be "Street Vet" sessions outside the Town Hall, doggie lunches and a children's dog trail at Joe Cornish Galleries, along with a dog photographer. Based in the Lower Town Hall will be Kebir Veterinary Surgery, Wagging Tail, Hearing Dogs, Greyhound Trust, Blue Cross, Saving Yorkshire Dogs, Bishopton Vets and Pet Finatic. It’s also where the Children’s Joke Trail starts which is open to enter on event days.

Guide Dogs for the Blind will be based at Joe Cornish Galleries, where there will be special dog treats on the café menu throughout the half-term holidays. A Dog's Life Photography, www.adogslife.co.uk, is taking bookings. The Gallery is also hosting the Children’s Dog Trail.

BID Manager Graham Bell, said: "We have an amazing total of 135 businesses in Northallerton town-centre that declare themselves to be dog-friendly, we reckon we’re the most dog-friendly market town in Britain."

Events last from 10am to 4pm on both days.
