A LOCAL star is returning to his roots to take part in a ground breaking jazz festival.
Young musician Simon Chorley from Wensleydale will be appearing at the first Leyburn Jazz Festival which takes place at Tennants Garden Rooms as well as at pubs across Leyburn from October 22 to 24.
Simon, 22, comes from Thornton Rust near Leyburn and will be bringing his Voodoo Brass Band to do a New Orleans marching band session in Leyburn Market Place on Saturday Oct 23 from 11am to noon before appearing at a concert at Tennants in the afternoon.
Simon is now London based having trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied classical bass trombone.
Illustrating his eclectic talents, his recent credits include playing with with Chineke, the UK premier of Gershwin's "Nice Work if you can get it" and the Southbank Sinfonia.
