A POPULAR Teesside Pub and Grill is setting out on its next expansion by aiming to open two new takeaways before the end of the year.

After the successful expansion to Redcar and Middlesbrough, owner Craig Harker has plans to cover all of Teesside.

The George Pub and Grill, based in Stockton, has gained the reputation of being the UK’s ‘meatiest pub.’ It serves huge portions of food to people who like an eating challenge.

Now the Teesside food entrepreneur has set his sights on two more locations for his George Pub and Grill expansion project.

Mr Harker wants to open a new base in Darlington, a new ‘George Pub and Grill takeaway’, in the next eight weeks.

He has not revealed the exact location but said that residents of Darlington can look forward to getting their favourite Sunday dinners delivered straight to their doors.

Mr Harker said: “This will be like the takeaway place we are setting up in Middlesbrough, they will be getting the food they know and love.

“Once we have established ourselves we will be opening our menu up further to include the massive meals we are famous for and that everyone loves.”

The other location that he has scouted for expansion is Seaton Carew where he hopes to see another takeaway restaurant open before the year is over.

Mr Harker added: “We can expand like this because clearly there is a demand for it all across Teesside.

“Before Covid, we would never have imagined any expansion like this, but our business model of delivering food that was about the quality of other takeaways proved very popular.

“Now everyone on Teesside knows us and we are hoping to bring the people the food they love.

“It just snowballed and we want to make sure we are giving them that quality and quantity.

“We have had to expand the kitchen in Redcar because of the demand, and to be honest, I want us to be the best restaurant in town.

“We don’t do things half-heartedly.”
