THE Hairy Bikers are set to visit the North Yorkshire coast tonight in “The Hairy Bikers Go North” – will you be watching it?

Much-loved by many, the biker-pair are set to venture into some of North Yorkshire’s best coastal towns including Scarborough, Whitby and – although not on the coast – Malton.

In episode two of eight of the Go North series the bikers will meet Jamie on Scarborough’s beautiful beaches.

Jamie’s company is the first to farm seaweed offshore, according to the programme description, for both its gastronomic attraction but also its many other eco-friendly prospects.

The troublesome twosome will then visit Aike, where they’ll see a family-run vineyard and winery, Laurel Vines, and barrow the family’s kitchen to cook.

In Malton, the pair will learn how to make macarons with Frenchman Florian Poirot, who is, reportedly, an adopted Yorkshireman.

Pressing on the bikers will eventually reach Robin Hoods bay, south of Whitby, where they will make a langoustine salad with a Marie Rose sauce.

In Whitby, the hair-pair meet Barry, who supposedly keeps the fires burning at Whiby’s artisan smokehouse.

They then climb the 199 steps up to St Marie’s church to enjoy the stunning views and some of Barry’s kippers.

Finally, the bikers return to Scarborough where they are set to cook their final meal inspired by the seaweed seasoning produced by Jamie.

North York Moors National Park commented on the visit on their Facebook page saying “tune in tomorrow for The Hairy Bikers Go North”

Darlington and Stockton Times:

You can catch the two on BBC Two tonight at 8pm, watch it for our beautiful locations if nothing else.
