NORTHALLERTON Town were on the road again at the weekend to Tyneside to play Whickham at their Glebeside ground – and came away with a deserved three points.
Town were first to attack when Cieran Jackson fired in a shot from outside the area which went wide, and minutes later Nat Stephenson combined with Jackson, whose shot was palmed onto the crossbar by the 'keeper.
The away side looked organised and not under threat of conceding, but equally lacked potency in front of goal and the match was score-less going into half time.
It took until the 77th minute for the deadlock to be broken, when a free kick into the box was latched onto by man of the match Dan Jones, who smashed the ball into the goal to put Town ahead.
Whickham equalised in the 89 minute through Kurtis Russell, but there was still time for Town to go up the park and score again through Matt Crust, who drilled his shot into the goal to restore his side's slender advantage.
