NORTHALLERTON Town's home game against West Auckland was abandoned on Saturday after a serious injury to a town defender.

Lee Brockbank has since undergone surgery for a broken leg, posting on Twitter to thank people for their kind messages and saying that "surgery went well". He added: "I was under for five hours whilst they put rods, pins and screws in. Long road to recovery now."

The match was abandoned in the 49th minute with the score at 2-1 to West Auckland following two goals from Jordan Blind for West and a brilliant strike from Nat Stephenson for Town.

The match has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 29, kick-off 7.45pm.
