WENSLEYDALE Show organisers say they are all set to go ahead with their 107th show on Saturday, August 28 and are still open for entries.

Show chairman Kenton Foster said: “As one of the few agricultural shows going ahead this year we are looking forward to welcoming visitors and exhibitors alike through the gates.

“We have put a number of measures in place to make everyone feel comfortable in these times by implementing one way systems, hand sanitiser points and plenty of space around the showground.

“We are welcoming a new class this year for ridden heavy horses, and it should be quite a sight seeing these gentle giants galloping around the main ring, leg feathers flying.

“This is in addition to our splendid display of sheep, cattle, horses, poultry, handicrafts and horticulture. With a full programme of main ring events there will certainly be something for all the family to enjoy.”

Alongside the competitive events for livestock, the horticultural and handicraft classes are also being held, as well as displays of vintage tractors, craft and trade stands.

Organisers say other attractions for 2021 include Flyin Ryan Motorcycle Display Team, gun dog scurry, dry stone walling demonstration and much more.

Entries secretary Sandy Carter said: “Entries are coming in across the range of classes but with the entry closing date not until August 11, there is still time to get entries in.

“Entries are open to anyone and you do not have to live in the Leyburn area to take part in the show.

“Full class details and entry forms can be found on our show website at www.wensleydaleshow.org.uk”

A virtual online show was held last year, but organisers were keen to return to a normal, in-person show this year with the Co-op as the headline sponsor of the event, which takes place on the Leyburn show ground, off the A6108 road to Bellerby.
