AN array of street entertainers is being lined up for a "Summer of Fun" in Northallerton.

Families will be able to enjoy a host of entertainers, including jugglers, stilt-walkers, comic-book heroes and sci-fi stormtroopers, on Wednesday and Saturday market days throughout the school holidays.

The acts will circulate throughout the town-centre in a programme designed by Northallerton Business Improvement District (BID).

There will be a total of 11 event days starting on Saturday, July 24 and running through to Saturday, August 28. Acts will be announced in advance so that families have the chance to meet and have selfies with their favourite characters.

“It’s a great way to put smiles on faces after such a tough year,” said BID manager Graham Bell. “There’s a big variety of acts and we plan to share the fun with our side streets and arcades.

“We know a lot of families will be having a staycation this summer and this will encourage them to enjoy everything we have to offer in Northallerton.”

The Love Northallerton website and social media platforms will be updated with details of forthcoming acts and appearance times. The Summer of Fun replaces the planned Jurassic Northallerton event, which was cancelled because of Covid restrictions.
